From the Boston Globe ...
The Capital Grille restaurant will move from Newbury Street to a larger space at the nearby John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center in 2011, the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority said yesterday.
The new location will be at the corner of Dalton and Boylston streets and will “bookend’’ the Hynes with another restaurant, said the authority, which operates the Hynes. The other restaurant is Towne Stove and Spirits, which was opened earlier this year by local restaurateurs Lydia Shire, Jasper White, and Patrick Lyons, the authority said.

When you hear the word "hallway", "great exhibits location" or "upscale dinner for 200" doesn't exactly pop into mind. But we have seen some meetings and events do some seriously creative work with our 3rd Floor Boylston Hallway in the Hynes Convention Center.
Because this space is obviously a hallway it automatically is used for attendee traffic flow, so what better place to erect some booths?

This show, the International Society for Computational Biology, did a fantastic jobs of providing space for their attendees to navigate the building, but also engaging them with booth properties and they moved from meeting room to meeting room for sessions.Talk about built in booth traffic!
I love how they thought outside the exhibit space box. This just goes to show you, you don't need an exhibit hall to have exhibits!
One of my most recent favorites is a dinner that was held during SISO 2010 last week in the Hynes. This same 3rd floor hallway was transformed into a gorgeous space with city views and impeccable decoration.

I can't believe that this is the same space as the first photo!
It's truly amazing what you can do with a space when you put your creative hat on.
What is the most creative use of space you've seen at a meeting or convention?

Today Governor Deval Patrick signed the Harbor Line Exemption in the Fort Point Channel legislation that will allow public structures in the Fort Point Channel.

A few weeks ago I wrote to the PR department over in the offices of the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA) for any videos they had collected. The MCCA owns and operates both the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center as well as the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center, so I figured if anyone had stockpiled some interesting building videos, it would be them.
A couple of days later, a DVD showed up on my desk of some time lapse videos from set up to break down of a show. This particular video is of the Car Show at the BCEC so you'll get to see some fast set up of some big pieces on the showfloor!
Sometimes don't you wish you could time lapse your whole work week?!
